Creating an Atelier Class File

Files that contain Atelier classes end with a .cls extension, and are referred to as class files. Perform the following steps to create a generic Atelier class file:

  1. In the main menu, select File > New > Class file, or click this link to open the Opens the new Class file wizard New Class File wizard.
  2. The first page of the wizard lets you select a file template. Select the Empty Class template and click Next
  3. In the Project field, enter the name of the project in which you want to create the file. The default value is the project currently selected in the Atelier Explorer. You can also click the Browse button to select a package.
  4. In the Package field, enter the name of the package in which you want to create the class. You can also click on the the Browse button to select a package.
  5. In the Name field, enter the name of the class.
  6. The Filename field contains the name of the class file. The default value is the class name with an appropriate extension. If the you select the check box labeled Edit, you can enter a different file name.
  7. In the Extends field, use the radio buttons to select one from the mutually exclusive parent classes %Persistent, %Registered, and %Serial. Click the More button to open a dialog that lists additional parent classes. Type into the field at the top of the dialog to filter the list. This field is optional.
  8. In the Description field, enter a brief description of the class. This field is optional.
  9. Click Finish to create the class file.
