ODBC Access Overview

Caché provides an ODBC driver. Using this driver, you can connect any tool, application, or development environment that suppports ODBC to Caché.

Here are the basic steps for connecting to your MultiValue data using Caché ODBC:

  1. Run PROTOCLASS on the dictionary for your MultiValue file. For instructions, read Running PROTOCLASS.

  2. Configure the ODBC driver for your environment. Use the InterSystems ODBC driver. Be sure to create a connection to the correct namespace, for example, MYACCOUNT.

  3. Follow the instructions for the particular ODBC device that you are using and connect it to the ODBC datasource that you configured in the previous step.
