Jalapeño can use either reflection or special helper classes to access POJO data. If helper classes are used, then Jalapeño generates them at runtime. In order to generate these helper classes the ASM library must be on the application's classpath. This library can be downloaded from here.

You can set the access method using the Settings setAccessMethod method:
public abstract int setAccessMethod(int accessPolicy)
Here are the supported values for accessPolicy:
If the Access Policy is ACCESS_METHOD_GENERATE_HELPERS, then the ASM library must be on the application's classpath. The library can be downloaded from here. Choose the asm-3.1.jar download.
If the Access Policy is ACCESS_METHOD_FLEXIBLE, then the ASM library will be used if it is found on the application's classpath. If the library is not found, then a warning message will be printed to system.err and reflection will be used to access data.
