Predefined Users

By default, InterSystems IRIS includes the following user accounts:

Predefined User Accounts
Username Purpose

Admin

Administration account.

CSPSystem

Account for the Web gateway when making a web-based connection to InterSystems IRIS using Instance Authentication.

SuperUser

Account with all system privileges

UnknownUser

Account used by unauthenticated users.

_PUBLIC

A set of privileges assigned to all users.

_SYSTEM

Account to support SQL Access.

In addition, the system creates a “privileged user account” during installation with Normal or Locked Down Security. The user who is installing InterSystems IRIS enters the user name and password during the installation.

Default Passwords:

  • Minimal Security: When InterSystems IRIS is installed with minimal security, all of the default users except _PUBLIC, which has no password and is never enabled, have “SYS” as a default password.

  • Normal Security: When InterSystems IRIS is installed with normal security, all of the default users except _PUBLIC, which has no password and is never enabled, use the privileged user account's password.

  • Locked Down Security: When InterSystems IRIS is installed with locked down security, all of the default users except _PUBLIC and _SYSTEM, which are disabled, use the privileged user account's password.

Note:

The privileges that these predefined users enjoy by default as well as other properties vary with the security level of the InterSystems IRIS installation: minimal, normal, or locked down. With certain restrictions, the default properties of these users can be changed and the user accounts deleted.

For more information on predefined user accounts, see Predefined User Accounts.
