Healthcare Action Engine

The InterSystems® Healthcare Action Engine (HAE) is a FHIR-enabled, EHR-agnostic alert and notification workflow orchestration engine designed to deliver real-time actionable insights. It provides a no-code environment for users to create, store, and organize all the components necessary to execute alerts and notifications.

Try It

You can deploy the Healthcare Action Engine as an application module that runs on InterSystems IRIS® for Health, or as part of a container stack. Contact your InterSystems sales representative if you are interested in using the Healthcare Action Engine.

Synchronous Services

Healthcare Action Engine serves real-time notifications to client applications such as electronic health record viewers as prescribed by the HL7® CDS Hooks specification (https://cds-hooks.hl7.org/2.0/Opens in a new tab). CDS Hooks-compatible client applications can invoke HAE services in response to events within the client application (“hooks”). These services evaluate contextual data and respond by providing guidance (“cards”) which the client application can display within the user’s workflow. Services can also initiate edits to resources in the client application’s HL7® FHIR® repository (“system actions”).

Asynchronous Services

Healthcare Action Engine can also detect particular changes to a data source and respond by notifying the appropriate parties through a contact system such as email.

Important:

This version of the Healthcare Action Engine includes asynchronous notification functionality for limited customer testing only. Use of this experimental feature for any purpose other than product testing is prohibited.

CDS Hooks Connection Broker

Healthcare Action Engine includes the CDS Hooks Connection Broker, which allows you to connect multiple CDS Hooks servers, authorization servers, and FHIR repositories in order to provide client applications with access to services through a single, central API.
